原曲は Bette Midler（ベット・ミドラー）が歌っているが、多くのアーティストにカヴァーされている。
なかでも俺が一番気に入っているのが、アイルランドの４人組ボーイズ・グループ「WESTLIFE」（ウェストライフ）のヴァージョン。

愛は川だという人がいる。柔らかな葦を沈めてしまう川だと。
